Resources to Engage Your City with God's Word

For more than 200 years, American Bible Society’s mission has been to work in support of churches so our nation, its cities, and its people might experience the life-changing message of the Bible. We are committed to providing Scripture Engagement resources that will transform the lives of those living in our U.S. cities, creating healthier communities and relationships with God, self, and others. As individuals’ lives are renewed by God’s Word, families change, communities change, and cities are transformed for good. Here are some key ABS tools and resources for promoting Scripture engagement, spiritual and emotional healing, and spiritual growth in your people and your city.

Look Inside Church Assessment

Look Inside Church is an online assessment that measures a church’s Scripture Engagement and spiritual vitality. The congregational assessment asks questions about the church’s role in congregants’ spiritual growth, the personal spiritual practices of church members, the ways they put their faith in action in everyday life and more. Interactive online results provide church leaders with the big picture of their congregation’s spiritual health, the church’s top strengths and areas to celebrate, detailed data points that highlight opportunities for growth, and suggested next steps to increase ministry effectiveness.

Trauma Healing

Trauma serves as one of the most significant barriers that keeps people from consistently interacting with the Bible or deepening their relationship with God. Our small-group curriculum Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help, fuses biblical principles with mental health best practices to help the Church compassionately respond to traumatized individuals in their churches and communities. ABS-trained facilitators provide training, curriculum, and support to equip churches so they can offer this valuable healing resource.

How do people recover from trauma? Can the Bible help? What can the church do? Trauma Healing is our response to these questions. Trauma Healing Institute at American Bible Society (THI) stewards the Healing the Wounds of Trauma program so partner organizations can train, equip, and support local churches.
